Georgian Language Translator in India

About Georgian Language

Georgian Language and also known as Georgian Kartuli ena natively is the official language of the Republic of Georgia. The spoken form of Georgian language has many dialects, usually divided into two parts the East Georgian and the West Georgian groups. Both the dialects, together with the related Mingrelian (Megrelian), Laz (Chan), and Svan languages, forms the Kartvelian, or South Caucasian, language family. The regions of Azerbaijan, Northwestern Turkey and many villages in the region of Eṣfahān in Iran also speak Georgian.

In the form of inscriptions, the Georgian literary tradition dates back to the 5th century. During the period of 5th – 11th century there were many literary monuments remain from the Old Georgian period and among them there is the translation of the Bible. The New Georgian literary language was originated in the secular literature of the 12th century and is based on the East Georgian dialect; the new Georgian literary language became fully established in the middle of the 19th century. Until the beginning of the 19th century the Old Georgian language was only used for religious purposes.

New Georgian contains five vowels and 28 consonants; Old Georgian had five vowels but 30 consonants. Georgian has approximately the same parts of speech as contained by the Indo-European group of languages. The noun has seven cases, and the adjective, usually preceding the noun it modifies, agrees with the noun in case but not in number.

In ancient times, the Georgian language was written in three scripts. Asomtavruli evolved into Khutsuri, an ecclesiastical script of 38 letters, including 6 vowels. Neither of the script is used currently. And all the scripts are written from left to right. Mkhedruli, a lay alphabet originally of 40 letters (7 are now obsolete), 6 of them vowels, is the script commonly used at present in printing and handwriting.

Greek alphabets were used to derive the Old Georgian script. This is represented by the order of the alphabet (in which the Greek sequence id reflected) and the shape of some of the characters, although in the Old Georgian script the angular shape of the majority of signs is the result of the free creation of its inventor.
